Chiharu Shiota

Chiharu Shiota is a female artist who comes from Japan. Her artwork is normally large-scale and spectacular.

I can find various topics in Chiharu Shiota’s artwork: life and death, dream and reality, fear and peace. Chiharu Shiota gives me inspirations on how to mix the traditional culture of my home country with contemporary art, and how to build large-scale installation art. She is good at using culture icons, such as keys, wooden boat, and red wire. These all are having specific meaning in Japanese myths.
